Special Status

Not all family situations or academic programs fit into the standard guidelines. Each student at Harvard is assigned by graduation class to a specific financial aid officer to help with any particular problems or concerns that may arise. Your financial aid officer will work with you individually to find additional resources, information or funding to help meet your specific needs.

Study Abroad:

Your Harvard aid may be transferred to an eligible program elsewhere. Visit our SOR web site for instructions and deadlines.

Summer School and Summer Study Abroad:

Students who choose to attend summer school may be eligible for loans or scholarship assistance. More details may be found on our Summer School page.

Unusual Medical/Dental Expenses:

Students receiving Harvard Scholarship assistance who incur emergency or unusual additional costs for medical, dental or other education-related expenses may apply for Beneficiary Aid to help cover those costs. Supervision (tutoring) expenses will also be covered by Beneficiary Aid. More details can be found on the Beneficiary Aid Application form.

Other Situations:

Married students, students with children, students with disabilities or any other student with special needs, unusual situations, or unanticipated expenses should contact or make an appointment with their financial aid officer to discuss the circumstances.

Every year approximately 150 Harvard students study abroad for academic credit in over 30 countries around the world. Undergraduates perfect foreign language skills, learn about another country's history, politics, and culture, or participate in academic study programs in areas such as marine biology, environmental science, and anthropology.
